The city of Bergamo is located in Northern Italy, in the borderland between the great plain of the Po Valley and the Alps, 50 km from Milan. Bergamo was founded on a hill by an ancient settlement in the prehistorical age, which gave it the configuration that stll characterizes the oldest part of the town. Città Alta, the old town situated on the hill is surrounded by sixteenth-century wall. Città Bassa, the modern town, has grown on the plain and has all the convenience of a modern urban center. Average tempatures in Bergamo during September range from 18°C to 22°C. Even though it is usually sunny, you are recommended to bring an umbrella or rain coat for rainy days. |
